A naturally gifted sound engineer with expertise beyond his years, Etienne (along with the other younger members of askhule) brings an all-important youth vibe to our team. His quick grasp of problems faced by trainees and the warm, gracious way that he connects with them are establishing Etienne as a popular and respected instructor across the board, and a role model for younger trainees. Etienne also lectures for his alma mater, Academy of Sound Engineering.
Etienne is not only unusually tech-savvy, he's a self starter. To begin with, he taught himself Pro Tools; but not content with that, Etienne later went on to study formally with AVID courseware, attaining the rare distinction of Pro Tools Expert certification.
Since completing a two year sound engineering diploma through ASE in 2004, Etienne has proven his talent in the very competitive field of freelance studio recording. Before completing his studies, he was already working with local facility OpenRoom Productions, where he mixed for high-profile artists including Chris Chameleon, Wonderboom, and the Soweto Gospel Choir. Etienne has also engineered on live music broadcasts, and assisted the ESPN Channel with TV broadcasts during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Over the last few years, he has become a popular and successful lecturer in our sister company, Academy of Sound Engineering.
As a Certified Pro Tools instructor, Etienne teaches a wide range of audio-related subjects. askhule is delighted to have him on board, since we pride ourselves on offering future-oriented training that is fully based in the real world of contemporary broadcast engineering.
