Pro Tools 201 Pro Tools Production II
Duration: 5 days

This course covers the core concepts and skills needed to operate a Pro Tools HD system in a professional studio environment. The course continues to build on the fundamental concepts and topics covered in the Pro Tools 100-series of courses. Access to the 201 exam requires passing all previous exams.

This course is designed for end-users with intermediate Pro Tools skills.

Completion of the following courses is required prior to beginning this course:
  • Pro Tools 101: Introduction to Pro Tools
  • Pro Tools 110: Pro Tools Production I

  • Understand the benefits of Pro Tools|HD systems
  • Identify the components of Pro Tools|HD systems
  • Understand the 64-bit floating point mixer used with Pro Tools|HD Native hardware
  • Understand the functions of DSP and TDM in Pro Tools|HD hardware
  • Understand the 48-bit fixed-point mixer used with Pro Tools|HD hardware

Module 2
  • Optimise settings for a Pro Tools|HD system
  • Configure and maintain the I/O Setup window
  • Customise additional display and operation preferences

Module 3
  • Understand how to use voice allocation and resolve voice conflicts
  • Understand Pro Tools scrolling options
  • Color code your session for ease of navigation

Module 4
  • Access and navigate DigiBase browsers
  • Understand how to search and customise DigiBase browsers
  • Find and relink missing files
  • Duplicate tracks

Module 5
  • Work with separate Timeline and Edit selections
  • Create selections on the Timeline and on non-adjacent tracks
  • Make selections on all tracks using the rulers
  • Select to the left or right of the cursor
  • Modify selections by Nudging
  • Use the Shift command
  • Make selections with the Scrubber tool
  • Audition selection start and end points
